Hope Expedition with Ocean Missions

on Schooner Ópal

We have teamed up with our friends from Ocean Missions for another exciting project – The Hope Spot Expedition this summer! Become an Ocean Ambassador and celebrate the declaration of the first Hope Spot in Iceland.

Embark for one meaningful week onboard Opal

Learn, Sail, Soak, and Explore! Schooner Opal will be your home for this expedition while sailing for four days in the unique Hope Spot area and three full days in our hometown Húsavík! This is a wonderful opportunity to fully enjoy Schooner Opal’s great facilities – a wooden hot tub, and a cozy saloon with a fireplace every evening – while discovering the home and heart of North Sailing and Ocean Missions in Húsavík.

Discover the first Hope Spot in Iceland

Hop onboard Opal to feel the action, set sail for sustainability and learn about the natural diversity of the First Hope Spot in Iceland. After two years of effort by the Ocean Missions team Skjálfandi Bay, Eyjafjördur, and Grímsey were declared ecologically unique ocean areas designated for protection because of their critical biological importance.

Unique wildlife in North Iceland

The timing of this expedition is just perfect – June is an ideal month to experience the rich biodiversity of The Hope Spot area! Whether you’re interested in spotting whales, observing birds, or simply taking in the stunning scenery, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this unique and beautiful part of the world.

This is your rare opportunity to explore remote beaches, breathtaking mountains, and dramatic landscapes, while crossing the Arctic Circle.
